Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado

The Black Canyon is an impressive place. We started out by driving down to the Gunnison River, the water responsible for carving out this massive canyon. According to the information we learned at the park, it took over 2 million years for the water to do so. In addition, the exposed rock is over 2 billion years old. At the river Aleksey tried his luck fishing… no luck.
We spent about half the day driving along the road, getting out of the car frequently to admire the canyon from difference lookouts. The cliffs are impressively tall, some more than 2000 feet. We had the opportunity to look straight over the edges (safely of course) and see nothing but air all the way to the bottom of the canyon.
After the park, Aleksey and I set off for Utah. On the way we happened to come across several incredible vistas. The first was a long straight road in the middle of the desert, and the second was an ledge overlooking miles of fields and cliff walls. They were both absolutely stunning.
