Bryce Canyon Sunrise

Posted by Aleksey on Jun 26, 2009 in Uncategorized

Well we made the crazy decision to go see Bryce Canyon during sunrise after rave reviews from my parents. Sunrise was at 6:12. We went to bed early that night. As it turns out, we woke up at 6:02 due to alarm clock malfunctions. After scurrying into the car and driving incredibly fast to the park (10 mph over the speed limit) we were actually able to catch some of the sunrise. As it happens, due to the elevation of the mountains in the east, the sun peeks out at about 6:30 and we got there a few minutes after that. We took in the sights and went back to camp for an early start on the day.

The drive to Bryce Canyon

Posted by Euge on Jun 24, 2009 in Uncategorized

We drove to Bryce Canyon from Capitol Reef on 12, a small scenic road. The drive was incredible. We crossed from the desert into Dixie National Forest – a park with rolling hills covered in white birch trees (beriozkee). This was one of my favorite locations up to date.
Later in the drive we came across “Kiva Coffee House,” which we were told about my Inna, Aleksey’s mom. Unfortunately, Kiva is closed on Tuesdays, ONLY on Tuesdays. What day did we drive by it? Tuesday. Later on we had a close encounter with some cows.
We arrived at our fancy campsite, which cost us $30, set up the tent, inflated our queen sized air mattress, and went to watch the sunset in Bryce Canyon national park.
